Mondays Thoughts
1 winner and 1 second from yesterday’s selections, poor showings from the horses in Ireland which was disappointing but still a profit on the day. Just ayr today which looks an interesting card for me have put my thoughts on for each race now and will update a little latter with my bets if any as I want to see how markets shape up today with a couple of these as they are just on the edge of prices I want to get involved at.
1.15 vivaldi is still of some interest here for me even under the double penalty more exposed then most in the race but he has good solid form and the potential improvers will all need to find a fair bit to beat him today I feel.
145 yes tom looks sure to be involved today and can see him improving now getting a better surface to race on, does not have much to find with the fav on hurdles form and I know which way I would prefer to play this one.
215 premier sagas should be hard to beat and does not look worth opposing for me.
250 lampion du bost is interesting despite the early morning drift for me here has had 2 runs recently after a long lay off. Showed more promise lto and this drop in grade will help again I feel as he could not go the gallop then which also put pressure onto his jumping. Conditions look fine and if returning to anything near his best looks a very well handicapped horse.
325 the cockney squire is interesting for me here as if connections adopt similar tactics to last time and let him have his head from the front then I can see him taking some stopping, can hit the odd fence but this does not look completive and cant see him not being involved against.
400 whatson looked stand out for me at 16/1 rp forecast, when checking the markets this morning its top price 6/1 which is far to short, good run over cd lt over hurdles puts him right there.
430 gris lord is worth a mention for me as the bumper he ran in lto looks ok and he should be a stand out fav for me here despite 2 big bumper stables having runners.

Excellent days racing yesterday from a betting perspective and also some off the fine performances. Plenty to reflect on over the coming weeks. 3 winners and 2 placed selections yesterday resulting in over 17pts profit for the day and turning January into profit. Really happy with how I read the card yesterday and hopefully this run can continue.

150 No reason for me why golden silver will turn over big zeb here especially with the fact he also comes here the fresher horse.
220 mirador del conde 1/2pt e/w 14/1 gen bog
This ones just started to be supported in the market and although unproven over this trip everything suggests he should stay well. Good run last time over 2 mile and mark looks fair here baily view would be my main danger but is a couple of points to short for me to get involved.
350 heavenly blues 1/2pt e/w 16/1 gen bog prince rudi 1/2pt e/w 14/1 gen bog
Prince Rudi looks sure to run well here over a cd that brings best out of him and looks overpriced for me.I also want to take a chance with a horse seeing out the trip. Heavenly blues ran a race full of promise last time out, looks favourably treated on some of his old form and again the price is more than fair for the risk.

Eastern meteor made a decent impression on debut this season over hurdles but failed to go on from that lto in a decent race.The fav has little in hand on form and looks a fair bet to nothing for me.

Wrote a bit about grand lahou yesterday when I fancied him at Doncaster this is a different track altogether but I think his style maybe suited to this course as well and if getting into a rhythm in the front he could take some stopping. The fav looks priced on connections and has a bit to find on form,enlightment could bounce back and looks a danger.

Saturdays thoughts
Racing still in doubt so just putting my general thoughts up at the moment at will update later with my selections if hopefully racing gets the go ahead.
Cheltenham

Indian daudaie is the trickiest of these to asses as you never really know what improvement Nicholls can get out of these types,for me he is opposable though at his current price as he has to carry a penalty and looked stayer on his French form which is no better than some other form on offer here.
Maoi chin tire sprang a bit of a shocker last time out and on this stiffer course upped in grade and softer surface I think he will probably be found out near the finish.
Akula is interesting for me here as I had this one marked down as a possible fred winter type on his solid run last time out. He already holds a mark which should see him get in that race with no issues and im a little surprised as to what connections feel they could gain by running him here,maybe connections are short of options but for me this maybe says they think there is maybe a little more improvement to be had and when looking a last time out he was hardly knocked about,I like the booking of Richard Johnson and think he could go well at a price.
Local hero sets the level of form for me here and out of the front 3 in the market he would be my choice however I don’t think the form of his run last time out deserves the rating its been given and he again has to show form on a new type of course.
Third intention does not appeal as to one that has much more improvement in him for me and the 2nd from last time out did not really improve again next time.For me he is a little short in the market and would rather be against for now.
Lapin garou showed little on debut and needs to improve,nick Williams is not bad with juveniles though and for that reason you would never rule out an improved run.
Mark twain receives weight from all here and looking at his handicap rating which he has been given then he well treated.Obviously this can not really be taken at face value in these races but he has not really done much wrong in his first 2 tries over hurdles,stable going well and again would be off more interest than the front 3 in the market.
Not the strongest of grade 2 and my 2 against the field are akula and mark twain.

Shakalakaboomboom for me here is the first one I want to be against.Has won his last 2 and no doubt we are not certain as to how much improvement he still ahs however after watching last times race im not sure he is completely straightforward and im sure that the left handed course has suited him well on the last 2 occasions.There are plenty others with similar credentials for me here on form.
Its bad enough trying to rate these handicappers when you can see the races so trying to look at the newbury race of ikorodu road,ravethebrave and misstre dancer is extremely tough it’s a hard call but my marginal preference would be for ravethebrave who I think is slowly improving this season and has valuable course experience.
Thegiantbolster is an interesting one for me here as I dont think he looks that badly treated when you start to look into his form.Last season he ended up improving all season and once given this conditions put up his best performance to date.That obviously was over hurdles and since switching to fences we have only seen him twice,the first occasion he won a Worcester novice in decent style.Last time out he was ran in one of the hottest novice chases of the season,he had jumped well upto the point of his departure that day and although it was obviously far to early to predict his finishing position he was still travelling well within himself.Conditions look perfect and im sure connections could have found easier opportunities if they felt the horse had lost hos confidence in any way.
I don’t think pearlysteps is much better than he has shown and would happily take on,Diamond brook has won his last 2 but this is much more competitive and he needs to find plenty on ratings for me whilst cotehill and vino greigo make little appeal.
Thegiantbolster looks a fair price for me and is my selction ravethebrave heads the dangers.

Great to see noland back over fences but think he is worth taking on here off top weight as he does have questions to answer.Little josh obviously has to be repected as he did run respectably still of his new mark until making a mistake lto.Also the pace element here is interesting here most races at Cheltenham these days are ran at a decent clip but there is plenty here that like to make it buffalo bob appeals the most out f all these and his ability to stay further maybe a blessing here and I think he is still on a very competitive mark.If the race is set up for a hold upo horse then the one im most interested in is chaportugeon who despite being hard to win with ahs plenty in his favour for me.This ground suits him and lto looked very much like a test the water mission on his best form he is well tersted and I can see him running a big race.

This course and distance is perfect for Calgary bay and after supporting him plenty of times I don’t plan to pass on him now fistral beach is the obvious danger and is clear top rated for me but hes up in grade which is a concern looking at past performances.

Like the look of alpha ridge today in what's going to be pretty testing affair.if. Anything these conditions won't be soft enough but I think alpha ridge looks fairly treated on his best form.ran well lto and could improve again.geraghty excellent at getting horses into a rhythmn i'n these races and plenty going for him I think here.

Good result yesterday with mr moonshine making all and winning well at an sp of 16/1.There was plenty of opportunity to grab bigger than those odds as well so hopefully a few who did get involved managed to get hold of them.Massinis moon ran no race at all and will be off the list now I think. Premier des marias ran as expected though and will be one to note next time out.
No selections today but a few interesting races.
320 Thurles Really interesting grade 2 chase this.3 of the 4 market leaders have already taken each other on this season and my choice today from the 3 would be glencove marina who is slightly better treated at the weights and is holding his form well this season,geraghty staying on board is a plus for me as well and I would put nobody of him today however its tight and the 4/1 is hardly screaming value..The other leading fancy in the market is psycho but for me he still has it to prove at this level especially with his sometimes suspect jumping.Should be a good race and likely to be a close at the finish.

Earl grez is the closest I have came to a selection today. Showed improved form last time first time in a handicap and if running to a similar mark today he should go close.
My concern is the top horse who could be best fresh and ridden prominently by ap I can see him taking some catching here especially as he does stay further.

245 hunt mr moonshine 1/2pt e/w 16/1 gen bog 20/1 is available with others
Fairly keen on this one today but it is competitive and he is coming back from a little bit of a lay off.I was impressed with his run behind cue card and I think the mark looks more than fair.This step up in trip is sure to suit and I think he brings a good level of form to this race yet has the scope to improve a little more than some of the market leaders here.

2 placed horses from the 3 selections yesterdays frustrated with myself for red mile really as I knew he had plenty to find on the form book,easy to say this after the event though. If anything Somersby ran to good a race for me in the vc as I really want to see him go for the Ryanair but I think initial comments are connections may look at this next year,im sure ground will hold the key though. Im in the undecided camp with master minded at the moment and theres plenty of time still to review things before Cheltenham .
Excellent card today at leopardstown but again many races I think are best watched.

The key thing for me here is I think most of these actually want further.Big fan of noble prince but I want to see him stepped up in trip. Flat out im convinced wants further,realt dubh is more than likely the probable winner for me today but im convinced he will turn out to be the best o these long term.Saludos looked held for me last time and id not be interest at the now top price 4/1.If I was to have a selection it would be mr cracker who doesn’t have much to find on my ratings the concern obviously is the drop back in trip and the potential other front runners .
215 leop questions answered will be hard to beat here but id keep an eye out for a good from idrah who looks as if he will appreciate this step up in trip.clewbaycove could be involved aswell and it just looks a little to competitive for me.
245 leop My view for what its worth is hurican fly will hold solwhit and the others here.Would not surprise me to see thouasand stars to actually grab 2nd.
320 leop hidden cyclone is worth a mention despite the short odds as he looks a lovely long term prospect and hopefully will take this on the way.

Bnm has ran consistently on his last few runs in handicaps over a variety of distances and im sure he has a win in him off his current mark,Few of these are priced up on potential and connections where bnm is all about rock solid handicap form.hopefully today will be his day and price looks fair.
Empire theartre is a danger on his maiden hurdle win last season and would put nobody off a small saver.
150market rasen
Big dilemma here for me what a steel was a selection for me last time out and just failed to get home over the extra distance and testing ground.Todays conditions look perfect and there is no reason for me not to think he is going to go very close today however cardonagh is another horse I have noted this season and im sure he is also ahead of his mark.Both are joint favs today at 7/1 and I really cant split them so at the moment will I think leaving the race alone is the right call.

Excellent racing today pity we have lost haydock and gowran.Sure to be plenty of clues and many opinions shared in the coming weeks. The victor chandler for me looks fascinating on many fronts for the 2 and 2 ½ mile division but at the same time is one to enjoy. Similar comments apply to most of the novice events.

There will never be a more straight forward selection for me than lough derg finished finished 3rd of 159 last year won the race of a higher nark in past .races this year of 148 after returning to form this season plenty of scopey potential plot horses in here that make the market .Conditions obviously suit well and price is more than fair.

Not a bad card today at taunton the handicap at 330 looks competetive the one for me here is sircozy with the cheekpieces back on today but hes up in grade and on a higher mark than last time and i think this form could turn out to be pretty solid.

River indus ran against a couple of these last time out and for me the extra couple of furlongs and the fact he should be a little straighter this time swings things today in his favour.Abbey dore has not stopped improving but again takes another step up in grade today and id rather be against at the current odds.aconitum is respected and is only negative really for me is price.Lavenoak lad was involved in the taunton race lto but for me he is not that consistenet and could see him not running to that mark again today.It would not suprise me to see wizard of edge run better than he has on the last couple of occasions but im more than happy to be with river indus today.

All 3 selections ran dreadful races and to be honest it's made me have a good look where I'm getting involved in some off these low grade races to often and I really need to be only investing i'n these races from now when I've clearly noted the horses previous performances as I know my analysis is much more suited to higher grade racing where you get a more general consistent level of form. Right anyway the month continues and I'm having one bet today at Newbury.
315 Quintero 3/4pt ew 8/1 gen bog 10/1 is available with blue sq
This looks a decent race for the grade and i can easily see a few of these ending up racing of a lot higher marks i'n the future.stoneys treasure is well regarded by his trainer but for me his first 2 runs this season have not been anything special and certaintly not shown enough to be a 7/4 shot today. Flaming gorge showed up well on his first run over fences and I'm sure there is plenty more to come he has a race or two i'n him but he's a keen type and this trip against proven stayed is a concern. The boss has his first run over fences today and is sure to improve on what he showed over hurdles in time he his sure to need further though.Quintero ran a promising race lto on his debut over fences.course and trip was both against him that day yet he still showed up well staying on late.today's extra distance is a big plus and I think the price this morning is more than fair when taking everything into account about the Market leaders.

Nothing really to report from yesterdays racing the only real mention found little and had one of her off days so was glad I swerved that one.3 selections today in whats low grade but generally competitive racing.
100 Southwell Josear would be my choice here purely down to the fact I think out of all the horses here he has the least to prove and comes here in decent form the concern obviously is a couple could be better treated if running to previous form shown and at best price 4/1 currently looks a race best left alone.
130 Southwell more shenanigans 1/2pt e/w 12/1 gen bog
A maiden after 28 attempts at first glance does not look the best selection to find me a winner at the moment but there is good reasoning to think ms looks a more than fair price today.The front 3 in the betting all ran against each other lto and whilst i wouldn't know who will come out on top this time the market suggests mamba.When comparing the recent form of mamba and ms there is very little between them yes ms is coming back from a little break and that is a small question mark but has ran well after being freshened up before and with conditions to suit has ran best race on similar course last season ground trip ideal I think he looks a much better option than trying to split the front 3 at short odds.
200 Southwell Pinewood legend would be a confident choice here if it wasnt for the lay off 3/1 best price so the call has to be a watching brief.

Lackammon is obviously the starting point here and a reproduction of his run 3 days ago will leave him hard to beat top price 7/4 is very short who has shown this one piece of form and has to be taken on for me.Wor rom is respected back on a course he likes and headgear back on but hes 1olbs higher and up in grade so has to prove himself again for me and there looks little margin in his price.bring on the judge showed improved form lto when being given a true test this slighty easier track i think will suit at this stage in his career and there looks plenty of improvement still to come.If connections have brushed up slightly on his hurdling i think he can be very competitive here.

Yesterdays selections did not come up with the goods ffos las looked hard going yesterday and conditions defiantly came good for numide and it was a frustrating result for me as I was keeping an eye on him for a race over a stiff 2mile in the coming weeks.
Poor cards really today and most the handicaps are small tight fields.My opinion of the 210 plumpton is that I would be against lukie victor especially with the next 2 in the market showing a clear liking to plumpton.The closest I got to a selection though was cosavita in the 410 plumpton.Cosavita has been dropping down the weights since coming over from france and showed a bit more lto conditions should suit well but 3/1 for a mare with an in out profile does not look the best of value for me.

Got caught up yesterday so had to miss a lot of the days racing unfortunatly.The one selction finished midfield but have not seen any of the races yet.
Just the 2 cards today but few interesting races.2 selections and whilst they both are probably not the strongest out the bunch of mentions today I think they both represent fair value.
110 fairyhouse Wood lily made a nice impression when winning on her first start over hurdles our girl salley is obviously going to be hard to beat but wood lily looks an ew bet to nothing today and is still open to plenty more progression.
140 fairyhouse Ive got the front 2 in the market well clear here but its hard to split them really and 4/1 either one is just to short but expect winner to come from these 2.
325 fairyhouse baily view makes some appeal here at double figure odds new stable seems to have brought him back to form.The risk is obviously if he can run to the same level now chasing and its a bit to much of a risk for me in my current run.
100 ffos tales to tell looks in need of this step up in trip on his hurdles debut.Form looks ok and would rather be on this one at the prices than the market leaders.
130 ffos Junior jack has came in for a bit of support this morning and shaped well in a bumper trip should suit well and again looks a better way to go than the fav here.

Spent an age on this race and making a big case for sir keezbah but it seems there are plenty others who was taken by the run lto and the price this more is crazy.Dr livingstone is slowly coming down the ratings and grade 20f on soft ground looks like it will suit and whilst there are plenty with chances they all have doubts at the same time so im much happier taking a chance with dl at the odds available.

Takamuru obviously could be well treated here but there is also a good arguament to say similar comments apply to el diego.Has been given plenty of time other hurdles and the step up in trip looks sure to suit.First time in a handicap and a nice proile at a fair price.

Plenty of unexposed types here and a few who could go well after a break if ready to but I want to be with simply blue here and the early odds look more than fair.simply blue is obviously a horse who has had his problems but ran a race full of promise last time this was on the back of a long lay off when he had won an similar grade of Race to this off a 5lb lower mark i'n a way that suggested there was plenty more to come.conditions look perfect a tight right handed course suits and I'm confident of a decent run.

Losing run went on yesterday grand award the most frustrating with plenty Money coming for him beforehand.he made 2 mistakes and that probably cost him at least a place.

Looked like I wasn't the only one who thought veronicas boy was about to put up a decent showing as he was well supported prior to the off.unfortunately it was short lived when falling at the 4th hurdle.

zirenka looks overpriced today over this slightly further trip and at these weights.cast iron casey would be my main danger as I think he is capable of winning of this mark but the trip is a concern.

Not sure if the 5pt loss for yesterday did things justice but think im having one of thoose spells when the marginal decisions are wrong to often at the moment.2 winners from 4 on the multiple I didnt want to overstake that bet yesterday and was just frustrating the way things worked out with seeking power making a mistake early and running no race whilst stolen light travelled well but tired quickly.Iona days ran a respectable race for astable in no form at all and he was not knocked about at all im sure there will be other days for him.Similar comments apply to what a steel who showed enough to confirm my thoughts he is ahead of his mark just he found this test to much.
Only doncaster today at all my efforts have gone into the 2.50

Surprisingly busy Tuesday
Unlucky again yesterday with the chazer who clearly looks well treated,will keep him of interest as I can see him progressing well once racing over further.
Low grade handicaps today but there are plenty of them for me to have a good look at and also a few horses I have noted recently who I believe are better than what they have shown so far on the course.
Firstly playing 4 horses in small multiple today in an ideal world it would be nice to get something rolling on to the later horses to trade back.
130leicester phar again 11/2 vc
Ran well over cd recently if matches that run today should win this poor event and should be shorter than the fav here
210newcastle seeking power 11/2 vc
Good run lto have this a few lbs clear of the rest at these weights.
310newcastle stolen light 11/2 vc
coldwells is just about clear of the selection but that one is far to short in a race of this grade stolen light ran has ideal conditions today and looks a fairer price.
400leicester dormouse 11/2 vc
Probably the strongest of all the selections today,im slightly concerned about the ground which is the main reason I cant get over involved however dormouse has been running consistently this season and the booking of ap is a big positive for me here.
The bet then is 4 x 1/4pt e/w trebles total staked 2pt best odds I have found was with vc

Watched this one with interest over hurdles and no surprise to see connections taking him straight over fences for his first handicap run.showed enough over hurdles for me to get involved today despite stable not really being in best of form.
330leicester phidippes is a really nice type and has plenty of scope for improvement still over fences has been looked after by stable who hold him in high regard don’t think the 4/6 available is to bad actually and if it did for whatever reason get bigg er during afternoon I may get involved.

could obviously give a few chances here but im pretty sweet on this one today at the odds available back over 2 mile and looks in decent heart at the moment and back to a sensible grade.

what a steel has a fair bit to find here but im sure this horse is much better than his current mark and I think today maybe the day he starts showing better form.The trip looks certain to suit from what he has shown so far.

Selections yesterday ran respectably especially the well supported youngstown who was very well supported and traded short in running.The big thing for me sometimes is beating the market so horses like that tend to say your going along the right lines.
No action in england which is a bit disappointing especially when you look at how many cards have been lost recently but ive been drawn to the ultra competitive leopardstown handicaps.These are difficult at first glance but I do lilke this races as you tend to find lots of collatarel form which suits my style.

This looks competitive I like son amix as an individual but he has doubts at the moment over this trip and needs to settle better.The bishops looney may still have scope for improvement and Id put nobody of this one however prince rudi has a nice profile for a handicap like this showed good promise on debut run this season,any drying of the ground will suit and looks good value this morning.

Have to say today's racing looks very tough I'm going with 2 selections and hopefully both will run well.
205 sand Youngstown 1pt ew 7/1 bog still available
Been shortened this morning with plenty non runners i'n race but price still seems fair.ran a good race last time out and that form looks rock solid now.this extra test should suit and looks to have plenty i'n his favour today.
145 chep watamu bay 1/2pt ew 12/1 365 bog 5 places
This would never be my usual type of selection as a large majority of the reasoning to back this horse today is about the potential inprovement he could show.I feel however this horse is going to really enjoy these conditions today and at the price looks fair value.

One well supported winner and a place from the 2 mentions yesterday would never have got involved at the winners sp but nice to know I'm reading things ok at the moment.
Poor card today at Southwell but I'm taking a chance with 2 that I think are well overpriced but at the same time I'm not going crazy with the staking.

No selections again for me today I'm keen on 2 horses today at Leicester but both are shorter than I would feel comfortable with backing so going to give the day a swerve again.for thoose interested the 2 horses are 250 hidden keel and 320 digger gets lucky.

Turned into a frustrating day yesterday with 3 of my selections running no race at all and then being done on the line with another.I did manage to find a 16/1 winner i'n between all this so a small profit on the day.fair bit to take from the card it's hard sometimes I find on course to keep any eye on all the also rans so will be going through the replays as there looks a few festival clues yesterday.
1 selection for today racing generally looks very competitive and just found a lot of races to difficult when looking at modest horses.
225 Ayr worth a kings 3/4pt ew 8/1
Generally a consistent type just the one poor run recently and off his current mark he is top rated here for me.conditions look better than last couple if races for him and stable looks still to be i'n decent form.I can't see many if any improvers i'n this and think anything around 7/1+ looks a fair price.
